Welcome to Forest Schools
Forest schools is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence, self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.
Mrs Duggan and Mrs Wager are Level 3 Trained Forest School Practitioners and Mr Langley and Mrs Beresford are currenly completing Level 2. We are also training more staff to be level 3 practitioners this year.
Key features of forest schools
The use of the natural outdoor environment.
Allows children to undertake new experiences and challenges whilst taking appropriate risks.
Supports personalised learning.
Trained adults are facilitators and observers rather than leaders and directors.
Promotes development of all involved, fostering, resilient, confident and creative learners.
Supports the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.
What we do at forest schools
Build dens and shelters.
Games and physical activities.
Climb trees.
Be creative.
Use tools safely.
Make fires and cook food outside.
Play in the mud kitchen.
Work as a team and support each other.
Look after the environment.
