Welcome to the Nursery Class at

Broadstone Hall Primary School

Class e-mail address to use during school closure is
In an effort to improve communication between pupils and their teachers during this uniquely challenging time, we have set up class e-mail accounts. The idea is that children can e-mail work to teachers and receive feedback, during school hours. Teachers will log onto the e-mail accounts and respond to pupils work and queries during the school day, when they are not on duty looking after children of key worker parents at school.
This service will only be available during the lockdown period and once we are back in school again, it will be discontinued.
Please do not use this e-mail address for general queries, questions or complaints, these should all be directed to the school office in the first instance.
We hope that your children find this service useful, during a time when they are not able to have their normal contact with their class teacher.

The Nursery staff team consists of Mrs Fraser, the Nursery Teacher and Mrs Wicks our Early Years Practitioner. The children will have other adults who work as part of the Early Years team to care for them at lunch time. These adults are Mrs Greenhalgh, Miss Greenhalgh, Mrs Jowett-Hulme and Mrs Redfern.

Every day here is filled with fun and laughter, with lots of opportunities for children to learn new skills and to develop into confident and independent learners. Each child is taken on a journey that celebrates their achievements and challenges their own thinking and learning. Their progress is assessed against the Early Years Foundation Stage Learning Outcomes which you can view in the drop down menu below.

We would like to work in partnership with you to celebrate your child's achievements and to support them in their next steps for learning. We use Tapestry to create an online Learning Journal for every child in the Nursery which is a fantastic way of celebrating the children's achievements and tracking their progress. You will be able to log on and see what your child has been up to in Nursery, comment on their achievements and post pictures of what your child does at home. At the end of the Nursery year, you will be able to download and keep an electronic version of the journal.

Our expectation is that at the end of their time with us in Nursery, the children are achieving outcomes and developing skills that are in the 30-50 month age band of the Early Years Foundation Stage. This ensures that they have a secure foundation of knowledge and skills on which to build when they start in Reception, where they will continue their learning journey.

We are always available to answer any questions you may have regarding your child's development.
