Friends of Broadstone

Who are we?
For everybody who is unsure or doesn’t know who we are, Friends of Broadstone (FOB) is the PTA organisation for Broadstone Hall Primary School. We are made up of parents, carers and staff from across the school. All parents, carers and staff are automatically part of FOB from the moment they join the school and are welcome to vote at the meetings. We would love it for each and every one of you to be a part of this amazing organisation and help provide for the school and the children’s education and futures.

What We Do?
FOB hosts events each and every year to bring smiles and enjoyment as a break from the pressure and expectations that schooling can bring to children, staff and parents. Helping to raise funds towards essential equipment, educational experiences and rewarding tools to enrich the educational journeys of each and every pupil at Broadstone Hall Primary School.
Each year FOB host, organise and fund events. Such as:

  • Secret Santa

  • Christmas Fair

  • Bingo Evening

  • Easter Egg Raffle

  • KS1 and KS2 Disco

  • Summer Fun Afternoon

  • Summer Garden Party

  • Quiz Night

From these events it helps us to provide suitable resources that will help to expand the educational experiences of the children whilst they are at school. We also annually purchase Year 6 leaver’s presents and book bags for the new reception classes. We welcome requests and suggestions for new and useful ideas both from parents and staff to understand the next important resources that will help the school and impact the children’s time at Broadstone.

FOB has raised money for many resources around school such as the two Pergolas to enhance the playground and give sufficient shade throughout the summer. This was achieved in the summer term 2019. FOB have also made a succesful Big Lottery application to update the sound and audio visual equipment in the hall. This work was completed in October 2019 and will be used to enhance performances and events from September 2021 onwards.

‘’You Said, We Did’’
“Fund foldaway tables for the children who have packed lunches” – we now have 16 very large foldaway picnic style tables in use every lunch time.

"Build shelters on the playground for the pupils" these were completed in summer 2019 and painted with the help of "Good Gym," a charity which helps out in the local area with community projects.

“Purchase a defibrillator for school and provide training”- defibrillator in school and training completed.

“More whole school experiences” – Science boffin day funded for whole school and fully equipped forest school supplies.

"Publish FOB accounts on the school Website" acounts for last year have just been uploaded on a file to this page.

Current Funding Position September 2021

Due to the Covid Pandemic, FOB have only been able to run a small set of events compared to their usual calendar. Therefore, funds are currently below where they would usually be. A full report will be available in autumn 2021

What we need from you!
We would love for more parents and carers to get involved with volunteering as part of FOB. Whether it be attending the informal meetings to help plan and decide events and the next funding request, or offering your help in any way for any of our events – chaperoning the disco’s, manning the bar, helping out on a stall at the fun afternoon or just collecting the donations on our non-uniform days. We really do need all the help we can get to keep FOB going strong and providing as much as we can towards Broadstone and its pupils now and in the future. We really wish that from this we can get more volunteers, even if you can’t attend the meeting but would be able to volunteer at an event please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We hope that our new volunteers can bring diversity and new personality to our group. We can offer some benefits to you as well as what we offer the school:

  • Making a positive difference to other people
  • Sharing and learning new skills
  • Boosting your CV
  • Meeting new people and having fun
  • Providing positive adult role models
  • Giving back to the school
  • Involvement in the school
  • Assisting students to achieve
  • Feeling welcomed and valued at school
  • Sharing knowledge and talents
  • Enriching the school environment
  • Parent understanding and cooperation

Do you have any skills that you could share with us? Are you an accountant? Do you have experience of working with charities or community groups? Have you got good IT skills and could produce an amazing newsletter?! Do you work for a company who would consider donating raffle prizes or would sponsor and event? Are you able to help out at an event? Have you got some ideas to improve FOB and help it grow?
Please come to a meeting or get in touch on Facebook, Twitter or through school. We can’t wait to meet you, hear from you and use your wisdom.

Below is a record of some of our events that have been held in recent years.
