***IMPORTANT NOTICE ON NOROVIRUS: Advice from the Local Authority***

Dear All,

We have been advised by the Local Authority there has been a recent outbreak of the Norovirus (vomiting bug) in schools.

The Norovirus, also called the "winter vomiting bug", is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It can be very unpleasant, but usually goes away in about 2 days.

IF YOU CHILD IS SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF HAVING NOROVIRUS, DO NOT BRING THEM INTO SCHOOL.

ANY CHILDREN IN SCHOOL COMPLAINING OF FEELING SICK OR BEEN SICK, WILL BE SENT HOME IMMEDIATELY.

The main symptoms of norovirus are:

•feeling sick (nausea)

•diarrhoea

•being sick (vomiting)

You may also have:

•a high temperature of 38C or above

•a headache

•aching arms and legs

The symptoms start suddenly within 1 to 2 days of being infected.

Recommended absence from school is 48 hours after the last time you or your child were sick.

We want everyone to have a lovely 2 weeks off for Easter, so please heed our advice and keep sickness away.
