FOB- Who are We?

For everybody who is unsure or doesn’t know who we are, Friends of Broadstone (FOB) is a volunteer-run fundraising body for Broadstone Hall Primary School. We are made up of parents, carers and staff from across the school. All parents, carers and staff are automatically part of FOB from the moment they join the school and are welcome to vote at the meetings. We would love it for each and every one of you to be actively involved in any capacity that you can and help us enrich the children’s experience here at Broadstone Hall Primary school

What We Do?

Each year FOB organise, hosts and fund events. Such as:

Christmas Fair

Quiz Night

Easter Egg Raffle

Fun Afternoon

KS1 and KS2 Disco

Summer Garden Party

The events are fun and a lovely break from the pressures and expectations that schooling brings to children, carers and staff. They also help to create a sense of school community and invite parents and carers into the school community as well. The money raised from these events helps us to fund educational resources, essential equipment, contributions to school trips, and educational experiences that enrich the educational journeys of each and every pupil at Broadstone Hall Primary School. We also annually purchase book bags for the new reception classes and contribute to Year 6 leavers Prom and hoodies. The money raised has funded events like the Fun Afternoon which takes place every year for all children at no cost to parents and carers, but is just an enjoyable break for the children.

We always welcome requests and suggestions for new and useful ideas both from parents, carers and staff so don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] with your ideas.

FOB has raised money for many resources around school such as

The Pergolas in the playground, adding shade in the summer

Part-funded Lego-days and workshops

Gave £2000 worth of new books to stock the library

Part-funding class trips every year

Bought new KS1 and KS2 take-home reading books

Funded the school defibrillator

What we need from you!

We would love for more parents and carers to get involved with volunteering as part of FOB. Whether it be attending the informal meetings to help plan and decide events and the next funding requests, or offering your help in any way for any of our events – chaperoning the disco’s, manning the bar, helping out on a stall at the fun afternoon or just collecting the donations on our non-uniform days. We really do need all the help we can get to keep FOB going strong and providing as much as we can towards Broadstone and its pupils now and in the future. We hope that our new volunteers can bring diversity and new ideas and personality to our group. Taking part offers benefits to you as well such as:

  • Making a positive difference to other people and school community
  • Sharing and learning new skills
  • Boosting your CV
  • Meeting new people and having fun
  • Providing positive adult role models
  • Giving back to the school
  • Involvement in the school
  • Assisting students to achieve
  • Feeling welcomed and valued at school
  • Sharing knowledge and talents
  • Enriching the school environment

Do you have any skills that you could share with us? Are you an accountant? A builder? Do you have experience of working with charities or community groups? Have you got good IT skills and could produce an amazing newsletter? Do you work for a company who would consider donating raffle prizes or would sponsor and event? Are you able to help out at an event? Have you got some ideas to improve FOB and help it grow?

Please come to a meeting or get in touch by emailing [email protected] or find us on Facebook and twitter.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING OR LENDING A HELPING HAND AT THE NEXT EVENT!
