National Lockdown School Closure from January 4th 8pm 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

At 8.00pm tonight, the Prime Minister gave a public statement that all state-funded schools in England would be closed until February half term.

Having indicated that all schools would be closed, he then went on to say that schools would be expected to remain open for the children of key workers and for those in various vulnerable categories – as occurred in March 2020.

Online learning will be provided daily from Thursday 07/01/20 via Purple Mash to all pupils who have to stay at home during this period (as it was on the 21st and 22nd of December).

Key workers are those people that must still go to work to ensure that the vital services in society, such as those that work in the NHS, essential food shops, schools etc can continue to operate. Key worker parents and carers must think carefully about whether it is essential that their child needs to take an available place at school as the purpose of the lockdown is to prevent the new Covid strain from spreading via daily contacts. However, if no alternative is available, then the school will be able to accommodate valid requests for key worker places.

If you require a place, please fill in the online form and return it by 8pm tomorrow (05/01/21) so that we can organise year group bubbles for key worker children.

You will receive notification of you place by Wednesday pm (06/01/21) along with other details of how school will be managed during this new lockdown period.

Yours sincerely,
