New Headteacher Appointment

Dear Parents and Carers

Following Mr Langley’s recent announcement that he is retiring after 25 years at Broadstone Hall Primary, I am pleased to be able to tell you that the Board of Governors has now completed a full and rigorous recruitment process to appoint a new Head. The process was led by a panel of governors and involved pupils across the whole school and a range of staff.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Martyn Taylor as the new Headteacher of our school. He will be joining us in January 2022, and we are all really looking forward to welcoming him to our school community.

Mr Taylor joins us as an extremely experienced Deputy Head of a school in Lancashire and brings a huge wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise. I am sure you will all join us in wishing him the very best of luck in his new role. We found Mr Taylor to be an extremely positive, committed, child-focussed professional, with strong aspirations and strategic vision for the future of our school. We are very much looking forward to working alongside him from January onwards.

Mr Taylor’s start date will also provide Mr Langley with an opportunity to take retirement slightly earlier than originally anticipated; a request that was recently made to and agreed by the governing board and local authority. He feels that this change of date will enable the school to move forward with immediate effect from the start of 2022. To this end, his final day at Broadstone Hall will be 22nd December 2021.

On behalf of the governing body, I would like to say an enormous thank you to Mr Langley for his many years of teaching and leading at Broadstone Hall. He will be missed by us all, but we wish him all the best in his retirement, and hope it is filled with health, happiness and luck.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in this process – all the candidates commented on how welcome they were made to feel by all school staff and what fantastic attitudes all the children showed. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school.

Yours Sincerely

Laura Thomas

Chair of Governors
