AND FINALLY...a letter from Mr. Taylor

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you all to welcome you back to the new term and give you an update regarding school and information about all the work that has been carried out over the summer holidays.  As you all know we have had a very busy start to the new term with a visit from OFSTED.   Can I take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the parents that completed the questionnaire and the wonderful comments you made about Broadstone Hall.  As always, your children did us all proud throughout the inspection and were very keen to share their own thoughts with the inspection team.  The outcome of the inspection will be sent on the final report which will be shared with you as soon as we receive it.  We should have the final report in 30 days.

Summer building work

Over the summer holidays we have had lots of work done in school to improve the environment for all our children and staff.  Below is a list of what we have done:

  • Our nursery building has been fully refurbished on the inside and outside
  • Our reception classrooms have been decorated and had new flooring throughout
  • 14 classrooms have been decorated and updated
  • All the classrooms on the playground side of school have had new external doors
  • The boathouse has been converted into a learning space rather than storage
  • We have a brand-new library in the centre of school that can be accessed by all children
  • Our main reception office has been refurbished
  • Our staffroom has been refurbished

Plans for the coming term

  • To reconfigure our ICT suite into two learning intervention spaces.
  • To secure a contractor to redevelop our EYFS outdoor area.

Attendance

Throughout this academic year we will have a whole school focus on attendance.  Children are expected to have 95% or above attendance at school.  Children need to be in school to access learning opportunities. Our admin staff will be chasing all absences and where attendance drops below 90% home visits may be carried out. Please ensure if your child is absent you ring and notify the office before 9am.

Morning drop off

Can I please ask now that children have settled in to their new classes’ can parents drop children at the gates in a morning without entering the playground.  This makes sure we have a prompt start to the day.  Teachers are all available to speak with at home time.  Gates will be closed at 8:55am every morning.  Please do not drop your child off after this time as they will not be able to access the playground.  All parents need to make sure the gates are open when they drop their child off.

Enjoy the long weekend!
