Curriculum
Every child achieves their full potential because every child matters!
Intent
1. We develop children who are ready to learn, try their best, are respectful and caring to all others.
2. We enable every child to grow spiritually, academically, socially, physically, morally and culturally in the safety of the Broadstone Family.
3. We fully prepare each child for the next step in their learning journey and beyond.
Implementation
WHAT
To ensure our core values (CRICK) run through everything we do
To ensure our children have access to a coherent, carefully sequenced curriculum building on foundational learning with reading and oracy at its core
To ensure children know more and remember more
To ensure our curriculum is inclusive and accessible for all children no matter what their individual barriers are
To ensure our children have access to an appropriately adapted curriculum informed by assessment
To ensure our children understand the relevance of modern British Values, understanding individual characteristics of our diverse community and apply these to everyday life
To ensure children learn to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of: keeping healthy, feelings and emotions, growing and changing, healthy relationships and our world
To ensure a positive, safe and supportive learning culture for children and staff
To ensure our children have access to high quality curriculum enhancements including visits and experiences
HOW
• To ensure our children learn in an environment where the layout, routines, relationships and resources have been considered and are supportive of all
• Experiences and opportunities are provided for children to recognise, celebrate and value the diversity of our local area and beyond
Impact
School’s attainment data in phonics, reading, writing and maths show that children make very good progress and achieve above or in line with national expectations
The vast majority of children will reach age related expectations by the time they leave BHPS
Children’s work shows that children make progress and achieve across the curriculum
Children’s books are of a high standard, showing a consistency of approach and continuity of progression across the school
Children are able to articulate their learning both within lessons and in pupil voice
Children show and demonstrate our CRICK school values in their everyday life in school and beyond
Children and adults talk about and behave as a valued member of the Broadstone Family
Children are prepared for next stage of education and this is seen in the progress they have made from their individual starting points
